Hinchinbrook Shire Council Shire Council have recognised the talents of Hinchinbrook Marine Cove Resort owners Michael and Linda McKeown, who recently won the Australian Good Food and Travel Guide Readers’ Choice Award 2017 for Townsville and Surrounds. For two years running, the ocean-side resort in Lucinda, near Ingham in Queensland, has been selected by readers of Australia’s largest database of restaurants, accommodation and other travel and tourism information.
Other businesses singled out by the Hinchinbrook Council for winning regional or national recognition included Michael Devietti of Devietti Holden and the Herbert River Express, which was judged Community Newspaper of the Year in the 2016 News Corp Australia News Awards for Excellence in Editorial.

Micheal said it was great to know that the council supported the efforts undertaken by the Resort, including its social media presence on both Facebook and Twitter.
The Hinchinbrook Island National Park marine area on the Great Barrier Reef is a popular fishing destination for people from not only Townsville and Cairns in Far North Queensland and but also from throughout Queensland and Australia.
Weekend warriors from Townsville and Cairns form the bulk of the holidaymaker community chasing the monster coral trout, mackerel, perch, snapper and barramundi, among many other types of fish species that are abundant in Hinchinbrook waters, including the Hinchinbrook Channel and wider marine area.
The Hinchinbrook Marine Cove Resort is perfectly located next to the main, public four-lane boat ramp, while the Resort itself features its own private, secure jetty from which to launch any fishing expedition. Enjoy weekend fishing with all the creature comforts of home provided by the Resort, including complimentary BBQ and other social facilities.
Guests at Hinchinbrook Marine Cove Resort are welcome to full use of our exclusive jetty. For those that do not possess their own marine craft, we recommend charter fishing and boating services provided by a number of local operators, including Fishing Charters Townsville.
Fishing Charters Townsville can collect you from the Resort’s jetty and offers groups of guests unparalleled fishing experiences within the pristine Hinchinbrook Channel marine environment, in the waters surrounding the Hinchinbrook Island National Park or on the Great Barrier Reef itself, a short 30-minute boat ride away.
